Fed, Apple and chip updates frame a second closed-market day

U.S. markets were closed Sunday, leaving QQQ and SPY at Friday's closes. Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack preferred holding rates steady until at least spring and said policy may already be below neutral. Apple reportedly targeted 2026 launches for AI smart glasses and camera-equipped AirPods. South Korea's early-December export growth slowed as chip demand surged. Tesla reportedly registered more than 1,500 vehicles for a California ride-hailing fleet, while the U.S. announced $33 million for university autonomous-vehicle and AI programs. U.K. third-quarter GDP grew 0.1% from the prior quarter and 1.3% from a year earlier, both matching estimates.
