QQQ opened 0.84% above its previous close and SPY opened 0.54% higher, but both surrendered those gains and finished nearly flat. QQQ ended down 0.04% and SPY fell 0.10%, leaving QQQ ahead by 0.05 percentage points. New-home sales missed estimates, while crude inventories posted an unexpected draw.
