Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said a series of rate cuts could begin with 50 basis points in September. Fed official Austan Goolsbee later called tariffs a stagflationary shock and questioned the view that their inflation effect would be only temporary.
U.S. crude inventories increased by 3.036 million barrels instead of the estimated 0.900 million-barrel draw. QQQ and SPY were each little changed over the 15 minutes after publication.
