Fourth-quarter GDP growth was 1.4%, below the 3.0% forecast and 4.4% prior reading. December core PCE inflation was 3.0% year over year versus 2.9% expected and 2.8% previously, while the monthly reading was 0.4% versus 0.3% expected.
The Supreme Court overturned Trump's tariffs at 10:01. Later statements introduced a 10% global tariff on top of existing duties and said national-security tariffs would take full effect immediately, keeping trade policy central to the day's news flow.
