Labor Day closes U.S. markets as Saudi energy attacks and AI capacity deals dominate

U.S. markets were closed for Labor Day, so QQQ and SPY held Friday's regular closes with neither ahead. Saudi Arabia said Houthi attacks set energy sites ablaze and temporarily interrupted some operations. An earlier Jizan refinery attack report coincided with five-minute gains of $0.59 in WTI and $0.62 in Brent. U.S. Central Command said 94 merchant ships were rerouted, three disabled and two boarded. Technology news included Anthropic's estimated $517 billion of compute commitments, a 22% rise in H100 rental prices and a reported Apple-Kioxia NAND agreement.
